Southern France: Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, & Cahors
Wednesday, October 22, 6:30pm
Laguna Beach location
With significant movement toward quality winemaking techniques, France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region now produces some of France’s most exciting wines. Provence, known for its idyllic lifestyle, food and climate, is producing some interesting reds along with its notable rosés. Stretching along the beautiful Mediterranean coast between Spain and Italy, these two regions represent over one third of the country’s wines. We will also experience the “black wine” of Cahors, from the southwest, made with mostly Malbec. Price: $45 per person.
South American: Wines of Chile and Argentina
Wednesday, November 12, 6:30pm
Laguna Beach location
After hundreds of years of winemaking experience, these two countries merit our attention as they are becoming serious players in the world wine market. We are seeing amazing wines stemming from Chile’s foundation of French wine culture and pre-phylloxera European cuttings. Across the Andes in Argentina, where the Italian heritage dominates in the wine industry, Malbec is carving out a serious reputation. With the southern hemisphere sunshine and high altitude vineyard locations, it arrives with deep plum flavors that cannot be achieved in Europe.
Price: $45 per person.
