In addition to the certification classes, Laguna Culinary Arts offers a variety of wine appreciation classes for wine lovers of all levels.

Pairing Food with Sparkling Wine
Tuesday, December 13, 6:30pm
Menu: Ahi & avocado tartare with olive tapenade; Ricotta gnocchi with creamy gorgonzola & Parmesan sauce; Warm Spanish tortilla with chorizo & roasted red bell peppers; Blackened shrimp egg rolls with hoisin-plum sauce; Fresh strawberries with Champagne sabayon. Price: $95 per person, including wine.

This course is for those who love wine and want to learn more about it, but are afraid to jump into our certificate classes. Taught by Chef Laurent Brazier, this 3-part series includes basic information about international grape varietals and reading labels, introduction to the major wine growing regions of the world, and each region's unique classification system, as well as a beginners approach to tasting wine. Six different wines will be tasted in each class. $160 for three classes.
Dates Offered: Tuesdays, March 13, 20 & 27, 6:00pm
Class 1: Introduction to wine & wine tasting, how to serve wine, France as a wine region
Class 2: Spain, Italy & Germany as wine regions
Class 3: California & the west coast, Southern hemisphere

Food & Wine Pairing Classes
These are not cooking classes, but a classroom-style lecture with wonderful food & wine.

Register NoThe Basics of Wine & Food Pairing
Dates Offered: Tuesdays, January 24, 31 and February 7, 6pm
Class 1: White wines;
Class 2: Lighter body red wines;
Class 3: Full body red wines
$195 for three classes.
These courses are for those with some basic wine knowledge who are ready to explore the basic concepts of pairing your favorite foods with great wine (or pairing your favorite wine with great food!) Each class will feature 5 "small plate" dishes, with wines per dish (total of 7 wines per class). Through interactive discussion, the students will discuss the success of each pairing, and explore the reasons for a good or poor relationship between the food and the wine.

Register NoThe Aromas of Wine
Wednesday, January 25, 6pm; Laurent
Every wine presents a unique set of aromas and flavors that, in their own unique combinations, create the essential flavors that we have come to expect in our wine. In this class you will learn to recognize and identify these aromas and flavors, and you will learn how to associate them with the specific varietals and regions to which they relate. Price: $50 per person.
